How To Put On A Nappy

Hi, I'm Laura Campbell from Babyladies and I'm going to be giving you some tips on how to look after your newborn and how to achieve the birth that you want. I'm going to talk a bit about putting a nappy on. This is something that a lot of parents worry about.

Will I be able to do it? It's the most simple thing in the world and you are going to have lots of practice. So, there are lots of different types of nappies. For a newborn, I do recommend having specific newborn nappies, and for the first few weeks give yourself a break and use disposable ones.

There are enviromentally friendly newborn nappies. So all you do is get your nappy out of the packet and you'll see the front usually has a little pattern on it, so you know it's the front and as you open it up, you'll see two stickers at the back which you pull back like that, and they stick at the front like that. So I'm now going to show you how to put it on to baby.

So,i'm going to open the nappy out fully and we're just going to pop that under baby, lifting her legs and popping it under her bottom. Then this front bit, we're just going to pull through her legs, you're going to open the nappy out and tuck it around her waste. Open the tab this side, put it over there and open the tab on this side.

A lot of the newborn nappies also have a little bit where the umbilical cord can sit over the top of it. But if they don't, literally you can just fold that bit over and that's how you put a baby's nappy on. .
