Hi, my name is Renee Barca, I work at IMM Model Agency. I'm going to speak to you about how the modelling industry works. I'm going to explain to you about how to put together a modelling portfolio.
A modelling portfolio is the most important thing to have as a model. This is what the clients will get when you're going to castings and auditions. Without it, there's no point of being a model.
As result, you may need to make sure that your modelling portfolio is perfect. A modelling portfolio is usually a ten by eight size. This is the size that you should always get you pictures in, because you don't want to have any gaps in your portfolio.
All comes down to imagine this industry, and therefore, where your portfolio looks really matters as they whether or not be, it would be a good portfolio. Therefore, having a ten by eight size portfolio with ten by eight pictures of you all there will be perfect. Your portfolio should have you agency's name on the front with displaying number.
This is quite professional when you're working into a casting. It also reminds the casting director what agency you're from. Therefore, they know where to get you when they need you for their job.
The first page of your modelling portfolio should be a head shot. A nice smiley shot or nice close-up shot is perfect. Perhaps the one that you look best in, preferably where your skin looks really great, beauty and your eyes really stand out.
Some photographers prefer when you have your hair pulled back in the head shell, artist don't really mind. For me, it doesn't make any difference, so long as the model's pictures are quite nice. The next page should be pictures that show off your body, some lingerie shot, swimwear, or something that shows off your figure.
This way, the client sees the first two things that they were really interested in, your face, and your body. Obviously, as it opens up in a double page, it's usually a good idea to have a picture that matches the second picture you put in. So if you're doing a lingerie or swimwear shot, it's usually a good idea to have another lingerie or swimwear shot.
I usually suggest the models not to have too much black and white in their book because it does make a bit drop. Even their black and white pictures are amazing and gorgeous, they can sometimes look a bit dark and gray. Therefore, some nice bright-colored pictures are fantastic to have.
Keep in mind of the modelling portfolio that every time you open up, there is a double page, therefore each picture have to complement each other. You can have one picture of something completely different, next to pictures that have nothing to do with it, it's just confusing and it doesn't look nice. You need to make sure that it complements each other because obviously, this is the thing that's selling you to clients.
Another good thing to add to your portfolio is a tear sheet. Tear sheets are literally the thing that you torn off the magazines or newspaper of what you've done. This is great to have in your book, because it shows you that you have done works, you're not just a model whose done pictures on studio.
The clients should be able too see that you've done jobs, to prove that you are a bookable model. If you do tears, see it out of magazines or newspaper, make sure you trim them neatly. Obviously, the neater and nicer your book looks, the more professional it looks, and therefore, the more people would like to book you.
A portfolio, again, is the more important to have as a model, so please make it look tidy. This is the best way to put together a modelling portfolio. .
