How To Read Someone's Mind With A Deck Of Cards
Learn how to read someone's mind with a deck of cards and a little bit of help from David Zanthor. This is sure to puzzle your friends and family for months. Let them find out the secret by searching on Videojug.
Step 2: The trick
Tell your audience that you're going to read their mind. Shuffle the deck. Then explain that you are going to riffle through the deck, and ask them to tell you when to stop. Do this, and allow them to take the card. Tell them to show it to their friend. In this case it's the Ace of hearts. Now tell them, in no uncertain terms, to place it back in the deck and hand them the cards. Now, read their mind and tell them their card. They will be amazed, and amused. Street magic!
Step 3: How it's done
The secret to this trick is that there's no mind reading, at all. David knows what card will be selected from the beginning. The card they pick, in this case the ace of hearts, begins at the bottom of the deck. We've used a blue card to illustrate this clearly. When you appear to shuffle, hold the cards in your right hand, and pull packets of cards from the top at the deck into your left hand with your thumb. You're actually positioning the ace at the top of the deck. Now you force them the card with a riffle force. Here's how that's done.
Riffle the cards until they say stop. With your right hand, pull all the cards, save the top one out of the deck in one swift motion. This puts the ace just where you want it and forces him to take it. Let's see that again. With your middle fingers grip the top card. Pull all the cards save the top one out of the deck in one swift motion. From here on in, its up to you. Pretend to read their mind and tell them their card. You'll be right every time, like Zanthor. Street magic!
