How To Record Television Onto A Playstation 3 With PlayTV
With a PlayTV box you can use your Playstation 3 as a TV recorder- and save shows to watch at your leisure. This film shows you how to do it, and some of the features of PlayTV.
Step 1: Get the hardware
If you're going to be recording lots of television, you're going to need a big Hard Disc. Fortuantely, it's possible to change the hard disc that ships with the Playstation 3 for something more sizeable – watch VideoJug's How To Change a Playstation 3's Hard Disc for more information.
Following that, you'll need to pick up a PlayTV box, which plugs into your Playstation 3. It also comes with software, which needs installing.
Step 2: How to Record TV
Go to Live TV or Guide, select options by pressing X and go to Record. Select “Set this Recording”, and voila – it'll then appear in your library.
Step 3: How To Record an entire series
Go to Live TV or Guide, select options by pressing X, and go to Record. Set “Start Recording” to ‘x number of minutes early' depending on the ratio between how paranoid you are versus how much Hard Dsic space you've got to play with. Likewise with the finishing time. Set Repeat to Daily or Weekly, depending. And set the Number of Recordings to how many there are in the series. Move beck up to Set This Recording, and press X.
Step 4: Find Shows to Record
Go to Find and Record.
Select Find by Keyword, and select keyword entry. Enter the name of the show, and move to Start Search.
If you want to search for a genre of show – say cookery shows – move to Search Options and select Title and Description. Enter the theme – COOK, for example – and select Start Search. This'll bring up ANY food-related show, which you can set to record at the press of a button.
