Learn great techniques on how to relax your muscles with this video. Discover two "old-fashioned" but very effective tricks you can use to relax your muscles after a workout, sports game, or just to get the tension out of your body.
Hi, my name's Nick Mitchell, I'm the owner of Ultimate Performance Personal Training here in London. Today, we're going to talk about how to build muscle, we're going to look at various different topics and cover everything that we can to help get you the muscle mass, the muscle development that you want and to give you all the little tricks of the trade that helps make this personal training business here the best in the business. Okay, the best way to relax muscles is to actually try and take all the tension out of your body, try and take all the tension out of the mind.
An awful lot of tension in the body originates in the mind so you can practice many relaxation techniques, meditation techniques, even just lying in a darkened room with your feet elevated, just trying to zone everything out is going to have a positive impact upon tight knotted muscles that feel, that just feel tense. There is one good trick, a trick that I often use when helping athletes to just unwind after periods of high volume training and that is, this is an old-fashioned one, you have heard of it before but you may not have used it. You've just got to go to the chemist and you buy Epsom bath salts.
You put the Epsom bath salts, you dose it up according to the size of your bath and the size of you even as an individual, it has instructions on the packet. You put these bath salts into the bath, into the hot bath, you soak it in, the salts soak into your body, you go to bed half an hour later, you'll have a great night's sleep and it will take so much tension out of the body. There's magnesium salts, you use that like Epsom bath salts, it's fantastic for you to use once, even twice a week, and a great, great trick to help relax muscles.
Another very useful way to help your muscles relax is again the old-fashioned way, go and get a massage. In my case, I prefer deep tissue massage, sports massage or even the technique or active release techniques that helps strip out the adhesions in the muscles, that helps relax my muscles. You might prefer a more gentle relaxing Thai type massage or something like that, it's really down to the individual, it's down to what works for you, to help take those stresses and strains away, to take those stresses and strains away from the body as well as from the mind.
But overall, these are the techniques that I would use to relax my muscles. .
