How To Relieve A Toothache
Relieve a Toothache. Limit the pain of this common complaint! Learn five ways to ease the suffering before you reach the dentists chair. Eases the pain with simple steps.
Step 1: Clean mouth and teeth
Wash your mouth with water or mouth wash to get food and sugar out and clean other teeth with tooth paste, as much as the pain allows.
Step 2: Painkillers
Painkillers recommended by your doctor or dentist may help to reduce the pain.
Step 3: Make yourself comfortable
Try lying down, if this is uncomfortable then sit more upright using pillows.
Step 4: Apply a hot water bottle
Try easing the tooth ache with a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel and held where the pain can be felt.
Step 5: Clove oil
Try soaking a bit of cotton wool in clove oil and holding it against the painful tooth. This may help to ease the pain temporarily as well as plug the cavity.
Step 6: See your dentist
Remember tooth ache is a sign of tooth decay or infection, both of which will need a dentist ASAP.
Tips & Comments
just a suggestion on your suffering might i suggest that you try placing an ice=cube between the thumb and index finger of your opposite hand to the toothache and hold for up to 5 mins if you can this is an old homeopathic remedy and it does work or rather did for me. Good luck
have been in agony for 4 days! went to dentist 2 days ago,had a xrayand lots of prodding but couldnt find anything wrong. been dosing up on ibuprofen and paracetamol every couple of hours without much relief. rang dental primary care and was just advised on how to take the painkillers. will ring dentist 2morrow(monday) and hopefully get seen. i cant believe that its impossible to see a dentist on weekends.
I think a toothache is one of the most painful feeling outside of getting hit hard in the mouth. The best thing to use to eliminate the pain is to use gel for tooth. This can stop the pain temporarely until you see your dentist
has 2 be the most horrible pain ever! crnt sleep or nuffin buh im usin co-drydramol from when i was in a car accident they basicaly nok u out haha... they seem 2 take away the pain... buh the dentist does take the piss.... i mean i booked an appointment today and its 3 week off yet... wtf!
it true. toothache is proberly one of the worst pains your adverage joe will EVER experiance. but heat shouldn't be put where infections are. i would suggest something cold. like an ice pack. never heat. and of course you should always make an emergancy appointment to see your dentist ASAP as soon as you start feeling pain. if your dentist is going to make you wait over a week... see another. some dental infections (abscess) are potentianly fatal!
I cannot believe this video is still up. Steps 2, 3 and 6 are the only sensible suggestions in this video. You should NEVER apply heat to an infected area of your mouth. A hot water bottle is only likely to be useful if you're suffering from sinus inflammation, you're dentist will be able to take an x-ray to confirm this.
ive tried all the above and am set to burst into tears at work, someone pls help, been 2 weeks now and not at dentists till next week, it cannot be good 4 u taking all these ibrupofen and paracetamol
i have never felt pain like this in my life. ive had it for 3 weeks now, and i cant get an appointment at my dentist until next week. ive tryed painkillers, all sorts, clove oil, oraljel, hot water bottle, everyfing i can think of. NOTHING WORKS!!! i aint had a good nights sleep since about a month ago!!!
Anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen worked well for me. I took 2 Ibuprofen then 3 hours later I would take 2 Paracetamol then another 2 Ibuprofen another 3 hours after that. I would also try and get as much sleep as I could. The only downside was my stomach was very sensitive and I was missing meals. Still a damn sight better than agony.
The only way to get rid ov it is to get some antibiotics. I was in thatmuch pain that I almost took an overdose but then a friend gave me some Magnapen capsules and they took it away straight away.
