How To Remove A Skin Tag Using The Excision Method

In this video, Dr Ross Perry, medical director of Cosmedic skin clinics talks you through a pain free removal of a skin tag using excision and a local anaesthetic.

I’m here today to show you some treatment cases for various skin conditions, today I’m going to show you how to remove a skin tag. The method of removal that we’re going to use today is the excision of a skin tag. We use this method of treatment when the skin tag is a little bit larger than normal and they often can be quite irritating and uncomfortable. Today we’re going to do that under a little bit of local anaesthetic, which we place just under the skin tag and then simply snip off the skin tag and cauterise the base of it which causes the wound to heal over a week to ten days, and the skin tag is then completely removed. We’re now going to give a small local anaesthetic injection which goes under the skin tag itself and means that the treatment will be completely painless. There we have a removal of a skin-tag, we have used a small amount of cautering to reduce bleeding, the treatment as you can see takes a matter of seconds and the results will be at their best in around a weeks time.
