Hello my name's Laura Bliss. I've been a Nail Technnician now for the past twelve years. I'm currently teaching at the London College of Beauty Therapy on the nail courses there.
Okay, I'm going to show you how to remove acrylic. There are two ways to remove acrylic. You can either soak it in a bowl of acetone, or wrap it up in tin foil which is a lot easier and that's what we're going to do today.
So first of all just cut the length down as much as you can, so there's less to take off. And then just lightly buff over the nail to break the seal so the acrylic works fast and gets into the nail. Then just soak some cotton wool in acetone.
Place it over the nail that you want to take off and then just wrap it up in tin foil and the heat from the tin foil will just keep all the vapours in and make it work a lot quicker. Okay, so after about ten minutes you can take it off and check it and just start loosening the acrylic. It will bubble and you just need to take that off in layers.
So you can see the way it's coming off and you'll have to do that probably about two or three times. So we'll put that back in for a little while. Okay, and then just go over with your white block just to take out any scratches.
Finish off with your three way buffer and just put some oil onto the nail. Acetone can be quite drying and so it's important to put oil back into the nail. Okay, that's how you remove acrylic.
