How To Remove Baked-On Food

Jacqueline Hansson from Amy Cleaners shows us how to remove baked-on food. Yuck!

Step 1: You will need

  • rubber gloves
  • a heavy duty oven cleaner
  • a metal scourer
  • and a wooden or plastic spatula

Step 2: Scrape off

Using a wooden or hard plastic spatula scrape off as much of the baked on food as you can. Don't use a metal utensil as this will scratch your oven tray.

When you have removed all that you can, fill the base of the tray with hot water to soften the food. Continue to work with the spatula. When you have removed all you can rinse well under running water

Step 3: Apply the cleaning agent

To remove the tough remaining food you will have to apply a heavy duty oven cleaning product. Cover the food with an even layer.

WARNING
These products can be quite toxic so ventilate the room by opening a window.

Step 4: Wait for results

Leave the product to work its magic. Check the manufacturers instructions on the back of the cleaning product to see how your specific cleaner will take. It could be any time from 20 minutes to a couple of hours

Step 5: Scrub again

After the required time return to your baking tray and scrub with a metal scourer. You should find that the baked on food will lift off. This may take a little muscle power.

Step 6: Rinse

When you have removed the hard food pieces rinse the tray under a hot water. Use the scourer to wipe of any final traces until the tray is as good as new

Step 7: Done

Perfect
