How to remove dirty marks from paintwork

Painted walls are susceptible to scuffs, smudges, scratches and marks. It only takes one to ruin the clean look of your paintwork, but luckily is very easy to remove. Jacqueline Hansson, our expert from Amy Cleaners shows us how, making your walls look as good as the day they were painted

Step 1: You will need

  • a bucket warm water a little detergent a sponge and a soft cloth (blue)

Step 2: Make a soapy mix

Fill a bucket with warm water and squirt in a generous splash of detergent. Froth with your hand to produce bubbles

Step 3: Clean off

Work on each mark or scuff one at a time. Dip a sponge into the soapy water. Gently rub directly onto the scuff mark with the abrasive side of the sponge. Wipe the soap away with a soft cloth. If you are not satisfied with the result scrub with area once again. Keep going until he mark has gone. Then move onto the next mark. Scrub gently, then wipe with a soft cloth. The paintwork will soon look as good as new
