How To Remove Make-Up Properly

Remove Make-Up Properly. Protect your skin with a make up removing ritual. Stick to this easy cleansing routine and the benefits will be written all over your face.

Step 1: You will need

Some Eye cleanser
Facial cleanser
Cotton pads
Towel
Moisturiser
And you might also like to have some
toner
or facial wash
and cleansing wipes.

Step 2: Assess the situation

Make-up should be removed from every where it was applied to, so think back to what you applied, so that you don't leave anything out.

Step 3: Choose a cleanser

The most basic cleanser is soap, and this is an option, but it can be drying to the skin and harsh on the eyes. Your cleanser should suit your skin, and you might have to try a few types out before you find one that works for you, but it's worth the effort.

The eye area is very delicate, so try to only use a cleanser that is made specifically for the eyes.

Step 4: Start with the lipstick

Start in the areas with the heaviest make up. This will usually be the lipstick. Wipe with a cotton pad from the lip line toward the centre of the mouth.

Step 5: Clean eyes carefully

Next remove the mascara and eye shadow from the lid of the eye.

Just put a little eye cleanser on to a cotton pad,

Close your eye, and carefully rub downwards on the lashes. This removes the mascara from the top lashes.

Then open your eye, and gently rub upwards to remove the mascara from under the eyes. You will have to repeat this a few times until it is all off. Be very gentle with this area, and try not to stretch the delicate skin around the eyes.

Once all the mascara is off, take a fresh cotton pad with some eye cleanser, and rub along the lid, outwards to the hairline.

Step 6: Clean the rest of the face

For the rest of the face you can just use a general cleanser, once again, on a cotton pad. Pay particular attention to the area around the nose, the hair line and the eyebrows because the make up can gather here and cause spots.

You can choose to use facial wash instead of cleanser, it is a purely personal preference.

Step 7: Tone

Put a little toner on a cotton pad, and run across the skin. Cleanser opens the pores to clean them. Toner removes the cleanser and closes the pores, so you don't get spots.

Be careful some alcohol based toners can be quite harsh on the skin.

Step 8: Rinse

Put a little toner on a cotton pad, and run across the skin. Cleanser opens the pores to clean them. Toner removes the cleanser and closes the pores, so you don't get spots.

Be careful some alcohol based toners can be quite harsh on the skin.

Step 9: In a rush?

If you need to cleanse very quickly, or on the move, you can just use some cleansing wipes, instead of a cotton pad and cleanser, and it will work well too.

Step 10: Moisturise

Cleansing the face so thoroughly can mean that you are also taking away the skin's natural moisture, so put on a little moisturiser after you have finished.
