How To Repair Damaged Wooden Surfaces For A New Coat Of Paint

Putting new paint over old cracked or damaged wood surfaces is the surest way to waste money and effort. This video will show you all the steps to prepare an imperfect wood surface for a successful painting.
Step 1: Cover Surrounding Area
Protect all furniture, flooring and surrounding areas, and ensure use of protection eye wear and gloves.
Step 2: Remove Loose Paint
First, remove any loose or flaking paint by smoothing down with sand paper.
Step 3: Liquid Sanding
Then, apply Polycell Liquid Sanding with a brush or cloth using a firm, circular motion.
Step 4: Wipe
Ensure the whole area to be repainted is covered evenly, then wipe off with a damp cloth.
Step 5: Fill Gaps
Next, use Polycell Fine Surface Polyfilla to fill the gaps. Smooth to an even finish with the knife.
Step 6: Dry
Allow to dry.
Step 7: Sand
Give a light sanding and you've a perfect surface that's already keyed and ready to paint over with your choice of gloss paint.
