How To Replace Sealant Around Your Bath

Our professional how-to guide on how to fix your bathroom fittings..

Step 1: Remove the old sealant

Dirty, tired looking sealant is one of the first things people notice in your bathroom - but it's one of the easiest and cheapest things to sort out. Follow these simple tips from Polycell, and you'll be able to replace the sealant in no time.

Step 2: Prepare the bath

Carefully use a sharp knife to cut the old sealant away from the bath and the wall, and cut as close to the surface as possible removing as much as possible. If after that you have any remnants left - give the whole area a brush with Polycell Sealant Remover. Leave it for 10-15 mins and clean it away with a paint scraper

Step 3: Apply the new sealant

Firstly ensure all surfaces are clean, and dry. Cut the strip to the required length. Fold it in half length-wise with the adhesive facing outwards, remove a small section of the backing tape and push firmly into the prepared area. Gradually remove the resot of the tape and carefully apply the remaining length of the strip.

To finish press firmly along the length of strip to ensure every part is in contact with the surface.
