How To Ride A Berm
Riding a motorcycle can be fun but also dangerous. A lot of techniques can be learned from motor-biking but riding a berm is one of the most impressive moves you can learn. Learn from Ryan how to approach and handle cornering around a berm safely and enjoyably.
Now, a berm, for some of you that don't know, is a bank of earth that appears around the edge of a corner, perhaps on a motorcycle track or a motocross track, and this is something that is very good, very easy to hit and put your wheels against as you're going around the corner and it actually aids cornering. Now, some people find it very hard to get into berms. Now, the best thing to do when you're approaching a berm is going in at a good sense of speed, aim for berm, and keep the wheel on the same apex as the berm is.
Turn the bike, stick out your leg and lean the bike right over, pushing your wheels against that berm. Now, that berm, if it's a good berm, it will stay nice and firm and you'll be able to lean the bike right against it as you go around the corner, applying throttle, as you come right the way around the corner and out of the berm and then back up straight, and you've ridden the berm around the corner. Now, some berms are made of dust, some berms are quite hard packed; now, these berms are quite different to ride.
However, generally, the basic rule of thumb is forward on the bike, leg out, lean the bike over as you go around the corner, accelerate around the berm and out of the corner, and you've ridden a berm. Now, let's see that in action. .
