How To Ride A Mechanical Bull

Mechanical Bull Riding is a recreational sport, which must at all times be practiced with common sense and reasonable safety to avoid personal injury. Reasonable safety should always come first, including the use of techniques, methods and practices.

Step 1: Take It Easy, Cowboy

Be sensible and know your limits. Only take on what you can handle and don't try to impress your friends and wind up getting hurt. Starting easy will prevent injury and inevitable embarrassment. Drinking alcohol will probably decrease your reaction time.

Step 2: Hold On There, Partner

Once you mount the bull safely, use both hands to secure yourself. Slip one hand under the strap and clasp the other tightly over the secured hand. Once the bull begins to buck and you feel stable, remove your clasped hand and use your arm to keep balance. If the bull jerks left, your arm should move right. This keeps your weight from shifting too far to the left.

Step 3: Stay Loose, Big Guy

You need to press your legs firmly against this bucking machine while keeping your upper body loose like a flag waving in the breeze. If your upper body is tight, it will not sway properly and you will be thrown off.

Step 4: The Dismount

Dismount by holding on with one hand, then swing both legs over to one side and jump off for a graceful finale.
