How To Ride A Wheelie
This video provides in-depth instructions on how to perform and ride a wheelie. This rider tells you step by step how to maintain the wheelie, and includes tips on safety riding equipment.
When you want to wheelie your motorcycle, the first thing that you need to do is make sure you've got on the correct protective clothing. A helmet is essential. Now, to wheelie a motorcycle, firstly, you need to get the wheel up in the air and the best way to do that is sit back on the back of the bike, like you're doing a sit down wheelie.
Sit at the back of the bike, have your foot ready on the back brake because if that bike tends to come up too far and it wants to flip you over the top, your safety is to put your foot on the back brake there and it will bring the front wheel back down. Once you're ready sitting at the back of the bike with your foot on the back brake, snap open the throttle, pull back on the handle bars and that wheel should come up in the air. Now, to ride the wheelie through and keep that wheel up in the air, you need to keep pulling, keep the throttle open.
Nice, gentle throttle. Once that wheel comes up in the air, keep it up there by not easing off completely. Just keeping that throttle open nicely as you ride and ride and ride along, just keeping the bike on the back balancing point.
If you're not quite on the balancing point, you need to give it a little bit more throttle. If you've gone too far, you can just ease off momentarily and just get that bike back balancing back on the back wheel. So, now you've learned how to do it, let's take a look at some of these wheelies in action. .
