How To Roll A Cigarette

Roll a Cigarette. It's not big, and it's not clever. But if you really want to know the best way to roll a cigarette look no further. Even an old smoking pro might learn something

Step 1: You will need…

  • some Rolling Tobacco
  • some Cigarette Papers
  • some Cigarette Filters

Step 2: Do you really need a cigarette

If you've decided to make yourself stink, increase your chance of a serious terminal illness and also do it all by your own hand, there's no better way than rolling your own cigarettes.

Step 3: Make your choices

There are lots of tobaccos available. Some taste different, and they have varying amounts of harmful tar and addictive nicotine. You will have to try and see what you like.

Step 4: Papers

They come in different sizes and thicknesses. Thicker paper can be easier to roll with, but thinner paper means you are inhaling less paper.

Step 5: Set Up

Place the paper on a flat surface with the fold at the bottom

The glue strip on the paper should be facing you on the side furthest from you.

Put a small amount of tobacco in the crease then spread it out so that it is evenly distributed.

Deciding how much tobacco to use depends on the length of the paper. You will be able to judge more easily with practice.

Put the filter in on one end of the crease.

Step 6: Pack the tobacco

Using your thumb and index finger on both hands grip the two side of the paper together and lift the cigarette up.

Your index fingers should support the back of the paper and your thumbs support the front.

Roll the paper up and down with your thumbs so that the tobacco evens out and is packed tighter.

Don't squeeze the tobacco, the movement of your thumbs will roll the tobacco into shape.

If the tobacco thins out in the middle or at the ends, you have applied too much pressure. You can fix this by adding extra tobacco.

When you have finished rolling the tobacco will be long, even and cylindrical.

Step 7: Tuck it in

Roll the paper so that it is just above the tobacco.
Push the front of the paper in over the tobacco, so that it is tucked in, out of the way.

Step 8: Roll it up

Roll the tobacco up along the back of the paper leaving only the gum strip showing.

Step 9: Moisten the gum strip

Run your tongue along the gum strip to moisten it so that it is sticky.
Then, holding the cigarette at the filter end, gently roll with a twisting motion, so that the gum strip seals the cigarette.
