How To Salsa Dance: Cross Body Lead For The Follower
The cross body lead is an exciting salsa dance step. Award-winning competitive dance pair Michael Kuka and Natalia Lind will show us the follower's part in this intimate salsa move.
Step 1: Footwork For The Follower
The cross body lead is an exciting salsa dance step. The follower's footwork starts with a back break on the right foot. So, starting with your feet together, you would move your right foot back about a foot or two, placing your weight on this foot for a beat, then replace the weight to your left foot as your move your right foot forward and past your left foot so that it is now about a foot in front of your left foot. With the weight now on the right foot, step forward with your left foot ahead of your right foot about a foot or so. As you place the weight on this foot, pivot a half a turn to your left, or clockwise, and end bringing your left foot back in line with your right foot.
Step 2: Upper Body For The Follower
Now you will begin another back break, this time starting with your left foot. So, again, move your left foot back about a foot or two, placing your weight on this foot for a beat, then replace the weight to your right foot as your move your left foot forward and past your right foot so that it is now about a foot in front of your right foot. With the weight now on the left foot, step forward with your right foot ahead of your left foot about a foot or so. As you place the weight on this foot, pivot a half a turn to your left, or clockwise, and end bringing your right foot back, this time a little behind your left foot.
