Need to whip up something quick at home? Looking for a last minute recipe? This video shows you the basics of how to prepare a delicious salmon quickly and easily.
I'm going to show you my way, a very simple way of pan-searing a salmon. Really important: a nice, non-stick pan, a nice bit of fresh olive oil. Get it in there.
You want it really, really hot. Now, I don't normally use flour, but this is like a double whammy really, so I know my fish is not going to stick to my pan. So, this is what I'm going to do.
I'm just going to get my fish. Three to four-ounce salmon fillet in the flour just to give it sort of a protective coating, so to speak. Get it in there.
I've got a nice, hot pan on the go here now, so not too much oil there. Get it in there. Just shake off the excess in there, straight in there, always holding the fish away from you, straight in there.
Get it in that pan. What we're looking to do is color the skin, turn it over, and actually just color the flesh, and that's it. I'm not looking to overcook it.
In the pan and out. What I'm going to get is max flavor, less cooking in a hot pan, as much as possible. Salt and Pepper.
Very important. Get plenty of flavor in there. Let it absorb all that salt.
Get a bit of pepper in there. Fantastic. Like I said, I'm looking for a nice, crispy skin, a nice colored browny sort of flesh.
I'm going to take it out and serve my fish up. Fantastic. So, nice hot pan.
Just checking for that skin. Fantastic. Nice and plump.
Not too big or too small. Like I said, a nice three to four-ounce fillet is ample for anyone. So again, my fish is not sticking.
I've dipped it in flour, I've got a non-stick pan there, so, I'm happy. Waiting for that skin to sort of color up really, really nicely. Lemon juice, lime juice, add a bit of chili, get some flavor in there, get some coriander, whatever you want to do.
Get some flavor in there. Looking really good. Turn it over.
As you noticed, I'll use my hands there. Getting some nice color on the salmon now. Literally, all we're doing is, like I said, in the pan, and it's coming out.
We'll serve our salmon up pan-seared on a plate. Fantastic. And that's how I do a pan-seared salmon. .
