We all love a good steak and this video shows how to simply and deliciously season a steak. He demonstrates it step-by-step to make it easy for anyone to cook up these tasty flavors at home in their own kitchen.
I'm going to show you today how to season a steak. You can keep it simple, just by using salt and pepper, but if you're not too sure, think original. Let's think Italian, basil for a seasoning.
Let's think Thai, again, let's think about our spices. To keep it simple, let's go for our salt and pepper. It's very important not to add too much of each.
I'm just going to lightly sprinkle some black pepper onto my steak. I've got a nice rib eye here, a nice 8-ounce bit of fat there. A lot of chefs don't like to add their seasoning right at the beginning, they like to do it at the end, but I'm not going to do that.
I'm going to add it all now. I'm trying to get it impregnating into the meat, to try and get those flavors going. Some feel that doing in the beginning it takes a lot of the moisture out of the meat, but the salt is not there long enough to affect it that much.
A nice bit of pepper there, but not too much. While you're eating your finished product, you can always add pepper and salt to it, so less is good. Add a bit of salt there.
Just sprinkle it over that. Lightly sprinkle your salt and pepper or your spices. Don't over do it, you can always add more at the end.
I'm going to cook that in a nice hot pan, olive oil, cooking it on either side medium rare, maybe 3 to 4 minutes in a nice hot pan. Add any fresh herbs to it, sprinkling it on top. That's how I season my steak. .
