I am going to show you how to seed a lawn. We've just picked a sample plot of about 1 square meter. It is very important to ensure that the ground is nicely firm underneath.

We don't want it to be compacted. This is a method called heeling and toeing. Keep your feet together and just apply your normal body weight to the area, then with a poly rake, just go over it and gently get rid of the foot marks.

With your grass seed, you ought to be applying between about 28 to 35 grams per square meter over this area. That's really a pretty good handful. Just apply the seed evenly.

If you want to, there isn't any harm in applying an equal amount of seed over the other way. Now from a visual, that's pretty much about right. Then with your soil rake or your poly rake, just really gently work that seed into the surface, just to stop those birds getting at it.

Then just as a final offering, give the surface just a light little tap just to firm them in. Then either arrange to water the lawn or rely on normal rainfall to get those grass seeds established. And that's how you seed a lawn. .
