Rule 2: Ka Ra O Ke. Not Ke Ri O Ki. Pronounce it like kah-rah-oh-keh.

Rule 3: Wa Sa Be. Not Wa Sa Bi. Do you get the idea?

One thing they forgot to mention here is how you are supposed to turn really red after drinking and stay out all night and end up going to work the next day with a hangover while wearing the same suit.

Pro...

If you want to explain 'life on video', get it right please.

Pronunciation: ? - ?? - sake. Not sarki. ?? - ???? - tokkuri. Toh - kku - ri. Not tuhcouri. ??? - ???? - o-choko. Not ohchoukou.

In response to everyone else, Kanpai (??) does mean empty cup. After a toast in Japan, it is mandatory that one drinks a substantial amount of the drink, if not all.

Unfortunately, it IS wasabi (??), even in Japanese.

The reason that sake is now served warm is that the quality of sake suffered during World War II, and it was served warm to disguise the taste. The highest grade of sake refuses to be associated with this image.

This is just a basic guide to etiquette and is very flexible. When socially drinking in Japan, you should never fill your own glass no matter what you are drinking. When in the home feel free to fill your own.

The mispronunciation of "sake" in this video really bugs me though.
