How To Serve In Squash
Service is one of the things to begin with in almost all sort of sports. Here is an overview on how to serve while playing squash.
Hai, my name is Bob Jaffe. I am the director of coaching at the Dulwich Squash club in London. I am going to talk to you about the equipment you are going to need, the etiquette you are going to use on court and the sort of shots that you are going to need to play and how you are going to play them.
For the service, you have got to have at least one foot in the box, and in contact with the floor. And when you are serving from the right box, the left foot slightly to the side. Hold the ball in the tips of the fingers at about forty five degrees from your left foot and with your racket, held with the correct grip, the wrist up and ready.
You then strike the ball above the service line, and into the opposite quarter of the court. Remember that any ball that touches the service line is not going to be counted as a good serve. Final go, tips of the fingers, racket up and ready, about forty five degrees, and there we go.
Target wise, you are aiming to hit from the right box , just your opponents side or the middle of the court, so just the other side or middle of the court. And that, eventually, should put the ball onto the opposite sidewall. so you are aiming to put the ball more often than not into that sort of target area.
