How To Serve Underhand In Volleyball
To be a good volleyball player, mastering the underhand serve is essential. And for beginners, it's the easiest serve to learn.
Step 1: You Will Need
- 1 volleyball
- At least 2 players
- A volleyball court
Step 2: Stance
Stand with your feet staggered. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart. Face the direction where you want to serve pointing your shoulders, hips, knees and toes in the same direction.
Step 3: Hold the Ball
Hold the ball in the palm of your nonserving hand at waist height. Keep that elbow slightly bent.
Step 4: Make a Fist and Swing
Make a fist with your serving hand and swing your arm behind your body. Be sure to keep your eye on the ball until you make contact. As your serving arm swings, step forward with your oposite foot to maintain balance and transfer your weight forward.
Step 5: Make Contact
You want to make ball contact with the palm or first of your serving hand.
Step 6: Get into Postion
Move through your serve then move immediately into a defensive position and get ready for the next volley.
