Goal setting is very important when it comes to coaching. If you have no goal, then you have no direction of where you want to be. So within coaching, you really encourage clients to set clear and concise goals of what they want to do, particularly in creativity coaching.

Creativity coaching is really honing in on a creative person's goal and allowing them to remain focused on what it is they want to achieve. So, how do you set goals? There is the obvious sort of goals: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timed. But there are also things of the ‘creates' model of goal setting which is coming up on your screen now.

‘Create' stands for precise and clearly written with the C. A lot of people have ambiguous goals that they're not entirely sure of. To make sure your goal is specific and to the point, write it down in a prominent place.

The R for create stands for Realistic, means that it's brilliant to have goals but make sure they're realistic and achievable. You could want to earn 50,000 pounds but how are you going to do that? You need to be realistic in the goals that you set. The E stands for Ecological, is it for the better good of others including yourself? Is it going to be an ethical goal to achieve? The next is A - Achievable.

Set yourself a goal that is actually achievable. If it's a massive goal, break it down into smaller chunks and milestones that you can create. T stands for Timed.

If you don't give yourself the time to achieve it, then you never will. So, give yourself a deadline. The E stands for End Steps.

What are the next steps to achieve for this goal? Draw a picture to depict your goal. That way, you can hone into those feelings of achieving the goal and the satisfaction that it brings. The ‘create' model is such an effective way of achieving your creative goals in any way you can. .
