How To Set Up A Playstation 3 And A Playstation Portable For Remote Play

Sony's Playstation 3 and the PSP can be linked up remotely, through a process called 'Remote Play'. This film takes you through the necessary steps to set up your PS3 and PSP for remote play.

Step 1: Register the PSP

You need to plug the PSP directly into the PS3 with a USB cable – the one you use to charge the JoyPad will work fine.
Put the PSP into USB mode by going to Settings-> USB Connection. Press X.
On the PS3, go to Settings -> Remote Play Settings, and select Register Device.
Check it's worked by going to Registered Device List, under remote Play Settings.

Step 2: Prep both systems

On the PS3:
Go to Network Settings -> Remote Play Settings
Enter an SSID, so you can recognise the connection.
Select WPA-PSK (AES), and a password.
Press X to save the settings

On the PSP:
Go to Settings, and select Network Settings. Press X on Infrastructure Mode, and you should see your PS3 ready and waiting for you. Select that, then Enter Manually -> add the SSID and select WPA-PSK(AES), and put in the same password as before.
Select Easy, then the Network Name. Save the Settings!

Step 3: Turn on Remote Play

On the PS3, go to Network-> Remote Play
On the PSP, go to Network-> Remote Play
Select Connect Via Private Network, and select the PS3.
There you go, you should now see the PS3 screen on the PSP. Magic.
