How To Set Up An Easel
How to Set Up an Easel: An easel which is set up properly will allow you to create beautiful calligraphy. Follow these simple instructions to set up an easel for writing calligraphy.
Hi, I'm Veiko from the Calligraphy Studio in London. I am going to show you how to set up your working space and start writing. Friday you need a board. You can use books to make the angle flatter or steeper.
The best angle is 45 degrees. It will allow your hand to rest when you are writing. I have here books which I have used to create the angle or I have here an easel which I can set up for 45 degrees.
You can buy different easels or you can make the easel yourself. This is a very simple easel made specially for use with calligraphy. Now, I have an angle of 45 degrees which allows me to begin writing.
Now if I take any pen, it is the correct angle to begin writing. You can use the same easel as a light box if you want. You will need, a glass or plastic board and a light underneath and you will now have a light box.
I have used skin to cover my easel to make my writing surface softer. If I take paper and a pen, and start to write, the surface is much softer and my pen and paper are in full contact with each other making the ink flow much smoother.
All I need now is some ink I'm ready to start writing.
