How To Set Up Xbox Live Wired

Hi, I'm Rene Millman, editor of Absolute Gadget, and today, I will be talking about the Xbox 360. In this video, we'll be showing you how to set up Xbox Live Wired. The Xbox 360 console is a great console for playing games but if you want to play multiplayer games, there are other friends on their Xbox consoles or indeed anywhere else in the world who has an Xbox 360 console, you will need to connect it up to the internet.

You can do that by plugging in an Ethernet cable at the back of your Xbox 360, then plugging in the other end into a router. Once you're connected up, it should get an IP address which the Xbox 360 needs in order to connect to the internet and ultimately Xbox 360 Live. Just to make sure you actually got a connection, first of all just check on another computer that you have internet connection and its use is working okay, so you know that your router is working and the second thing is to go onto your console and go to My Xbox and then go to the system settings.

You need to then go to your Xbox and go to the menu and under My Xbox here, you just flip across here to system settings so that's A. Go down here to network settings so that's A again and configure network, just make sure these are automatic, that's normally the best setting if you've got an internet router that uses this DHCP which stands for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. Just go in there, that's automatic and that's automatic as well.

And then you back from there and you can test your Xbox Live connection by pressing A and it will go through and look for network. Once you found the network, it will try and connect to the internet and once it's on to the internet, it will then try to connect to Xbox Live and that's how to setup Xbox Live Wired. .
