How To Setup Your New iPod If You Have A Mac

You've got your hands on the awesome little iPod. Now you can carry all your music, photos and videos everywhere you go. Follow these steps for setting up your new iPod.

Step 1: You Will Need

New iPod, USB cables, iTunes software

Step 2: Out of the Box

First, unwrap your new iPod and take inventory. You'll find a USB iPod dock connector cable that you can use for charging and uploading music from your computer to your iPod.

Step 3: Install iTunes Software

Load the iTunes software disk into your computer and follow the onscreen instructions to install the program.

Step 4: Get Your Music

When you put a CD into your CD drive, all you have to do is follow the instructions of the dialog boxes that appear. You will see a check mark next to each music track when iTunes recognizes your CD. Uncheck all the songs you don't want to import into iTunes and click on the import button.

Step 5: Give It A Name

Once you have imported your music, the iPod Setup Assistant will appear on the computer screen and guide you through the process of naming your iPod. Just follow the onscreen instructions to register your iPod online.

Step 6: Sync and Charge

Take the USB cable that was included in your iPod box and plug one end of it into your computer and the other into the bottom of your iPod. This connection will charge and sync your iPod all at once. A "Do Not Disconnect" signal will flash on your iPod screen. Your new iPod will take about three hours to charge.

Step 7: Unplugged

Once you're all charged and your favorite tracks are synced, disconnect your iPod by clicking on the Eject button and unplugging the USB cable, attach your headphones and enjoy hours of high quality music, photos and video.
