Today I'll show you how to sew. Today I'll show you how to sew a pillow case. For this we need, of course, a pillow insert, a half meter of a more heavy woven frabric.
The best is curtain material. We need a long ruler about 60 centimeters long. We need pins , a pencil, a fabric scissors, and, of course, a matching straight.
When we start with our cutting out then we need to know the measurements of the cushion insert. I have chosen a 15X15 inch insert. And for this cushion we need 3 squares.
Take one edge and fold it like that. And then I need my ruler. The cushion I said is 15X15 inch, white.
We need, also, to calculate it we have similiar lines of 5/8 and also the cushion has a deep. So, add 1 inch all the way around and to cut our 16X16 inch. Important is now that you pin really all 3 layers together.
Make sure the pins are not going over the line you have drawn otherwise you can't cut with your scissors there. What you have created now is 3 squares. Like you take one, top one aside.
And with the 2 remaining ones. Lets see you take them again right side to right side and from these 2 remaining ones you cut off another 2 inch thread. Don't forget to pin this 2 layers again.
Now, we are starting with ironing the hem. We have now here this rectangle and on one of the long sides. If you can't realize, or you can't see which one it is put it in a diagonal and you can see which one is the long side.
The first one is approximately a centimeter. You iron like this and then 2.5 centimeters again.
Now, I really don't mind if this a different measurement, but what is really important is that whatever measurement you started with please keep it nicely and straight. Looks like this. And we do the same on the other side.
The first step is now to assemble all 3 pieces together. You take 1. Put this right side to right side, line up with the cutting edges.
Then you take the other piece and put it exactly in the opposite onto the square. And pin this too. The next step we sew all the way around.
That's 4 single seams. Don't make the mistake that you sew this all in 1. I will show you exactly how.
Take the pins out. Never sew over the pins. It's dangerous when they break they can hurt you.
The final step is to insert now the cushion. I went to the ironing board. I pressed the whole cover flat.
And then you squeeze this only like that. Open it and bring it all the way into the corners. And that's how to sew a pillow case.
