How To Sew On A Pocket

You will learn how to sew a pocket using some easy-to-follow techniques to get a functional pocket that is sturdy and can be used on a blouse.

I'll show you how to attach a pocket. What do you need for it? You need, of course, a pocket already prepared, ironed and sewn, and you need a piece where you apply to it. Now, I have here, prepared the front piece of the blouse, and I have marked on the left side the positions according to the pattern where the pocket needs to be attached.

Take pins, pin this here through and I see this on the right side. Now, I have here the pins out and this gives me the position of the pocket. Take some pins and start pinning all the way around.

And now, after this is pinned, you need to sew all the way around and that's what I'll show you now. Now, make sure that the facing is not to the back because you don't want to catch this in any way, so you flip this open and I would recommend to sew this twice. This gives more stability to the material, and in case you're really using it to put something inside the fabric underneath, it will not rip so easily.

So what you'll do is now all the way on the edge is the first seam and I'll go around and go back parallel to the first seam. And that's how to attach a pocket. .
