Hello, my name is John from On Your Bike in London and I've been a bike mechanic for twelve years. I'm going to show you a few things about bikes. Things like setting pipe and setting it up so it's the correct size and a few maintenance tips as well.

How to ship a bike? This bike has been pre-packed and this is how they come from the manufacturers. What I am going to do is open the box up, get the bike out and show you how it is done. If you want to take your bike abroad or ship your bike, if you go to your local bike shop, they will be quite happy to give you the box and the packaging.

It saves us the space and it's a nice cheap secure way of sending your bike somewhere. Let's start by opening it up. You will notice, remove the saddle, then just put some cardboard just to protect it.

This is how they come, you will find that they have removed the handle bars which are then attached to the down tube, they have removed the pedals and also the front wheel has been removed which they have secured on the other side here. Then they attach it to the cranks like that. Then put your cardboard between each surface and make sure it is nice and tight as well, because in transport, it does tend to move around a lot so make sure everything is nice and tight so it doesn't rub or chafe against it.

This one uses cable ties to secure it. The other important things is this part here helps protect the gear part right here, in case it gets any knocks or bangs on the box. Also the forks as well, they put a spacing inside there as well and this just strengthens the fork and again, if the bike gets moved around, knocked around, it keeps it just that much more secure.

If you want to go one further than this, then you can purchase a bike bag, which is if you are regularly shipping your bike or moving around, something like that might be a good investment. .
