Hi! I'm Claire Watson owner of personal styling business—Miss Dress and today I'm going to be showing you plenty of tips and tricks on style and lots of fashion advice that you could use for both work and play. For us women, we all know the challenges when it comes to buying the biggest staple in our wardrobe, jeans. And that's especially prevalent if you're a plus size looking for a pair of jeans.

Fortunately for recent times the high street and started to really understand plus size women needs and wants for their wardrobes and the fact that they want o look fashionable but, there is still the problems to finding the pair of jeans, what you should be looking for and what you should be avoiding. There are a few key pointers to bear in mind and firstly it's the shape. I am not a fan of skinny jeans, particularly if you have got bigger legs, they really don't flatter the shape.

So always, always go for something that is straight cut or a boot cut. Both are flattering around that thigh area and also for balancing out the calf area. Secondly, when you're buying a pair of jeans think about the waist band.

The waist band needs to sit up around the belly button. That's the best place for it to sit, because you want to clip in the side of the hip and disguise that area so that you don't get any kind of fleshy, mopping type shape when you've got them on. Never go for an elasticated waist, that's probably one of the biggest mistakes that plus size women make with jeans and fortunately recently the high street has began to understand that women just don't want to look like funny old ladies with elasticated bands.

So the waist band should be normal fly and buttoned to create that fitted flattering front across the tummy. Think also about the pocket shape. Pockets need to right up on the bottom and sit perfectly in place.

Any pockets that come down on the thigh area will always make a bottom quite flat and also a bit like a saddle bag as well so just make sure that that pocket sits up on the bottom and that will create a rounded shape. Also, think about the size of the pocket in relation to your bottom. So many jeans come with this tiny little pocket and they make bottoms appear much, much bigger.

It's all about optical illusions with jean pockets and you just want something that sits right in the bottom to give that perfectly rounded derriere shape. Another final note, think about the stitching on the pockets, a lot of women don't actually know this but if you've got rounded stitching detail like this jean has got here. That will actually create the illusion of a much rounder, perked bottom which we can all do with a t times and it also helps to add to that elongated, slim effect that the jean can give.

So there's a few tips on how to shop for a pair of plus size jeans.
