How To Sing And Play Guitar At The Same Time

Hi, I'm Sonia Jones. I'm a professional singing teacher and I'm going to give you tips and advice on how to sing. I have a lot of people that come to me for lessons, that have got record deals, about to go in the studio, do tours, and a lot of them are in a group and they sing and play guitar.

And they find that they lose some of their tone and everything because if you're performing every night, say doing tours for a month, you've got to sustain your voice. The first thing I noticed is they do all the lessons with me, they get all the placements right, so we're not singing from the throat, but as soon as they sit down and get the guitar out, they bend over and the support has completely gone and everything we've learned from the lesson. So, I'm going to demonstrate this with Abel standing and sitting, playing the guitar.

It's very important to keep the diaphragm up, and this would be the wrong way to sing and play your guitar because as you can see, there's no support there whatsoever for the vocals. But if you bring your diaphragm up, keep straight, then you can get all your breathing technique working. Okay, and that is how Abel just used the breathing control, the base voice and the falsetto with one of his own compositions and sang correctly and played the guitar that was properly.
