How To Skate The Rhythm Blues
This video informs you about the rhythm blues and what is involved in learning to skate the rhythm blues, as well as the moves used!
I am going to guide you through how to skate the rhythm blues. The rhythm blues is a pattern dance which is skated forwards. The skater can perform this solo, or with a partner.
If skating with a partner, the hold that they should be using is a killian hold. The rhythm blues includes steps such as swings, both left and right, inside edges, runs, chasses and cross-behinds. The steps for this dance last for half a circuit of the rink, which is one sequence, and then the steps are repeated for the second sequence down the second side of the rink, so you have two sequences within one circuit of the rink.
As this is a pattern dance skated to music, it is vitally important that you actually use the correct timing of the music, and that the first step of the dance is actually performed on the correct bar of the music. Now, we are going to see our skaters skate the rhythm blues. And that is how to skate the rhythm blues. .
