How To Slice Through In A Canoe
The slice through is part of the Eskimo roll, and is used to turn your boat the right way up when upside down. In this step by step guide Sam, canoeing and kayaking instructor at Leaside Educational Trust in Hackney, shows you how to do it.
Top Tips
- When you are upside down in the water you need to put your paddle out in front of you with the blade parallel to the water; you then angle the blade away and push it round in an arc shape.
- The paddle slice provides the support for you to flick yourself back up using your hips.
