In this video, I am going to talk to you about how to squat. Now, squat is the most fundamental and the best lower body compound exercise. It develops muscles in the front of your legs, back of your legs, your bum, also strengthens your lower back, it is a fantastic exercise.

Now if you are a beginner, I am going to show you the most basic way of using a squat. Essentially if you can sit down, you can do a squat. If you have noticed, I am sticking my bum out and I am pushing it behind me and my knees never go past my toes.

Most common mistake is this, knees go forward. Unless you are a high level squatter, you should never ever do that. Now, more intermediate level squat will be using weights, using dumbbells, the stronger you are, the heavier you can go.

It is the same movement, I am taking away the bench, so I am a little more off balanced. Bend down low, coming up and the big mistake here is people leaning forward too much, you want to keep it upright, go down and come up. As I stand up, I am breathing out.

So finally, we are going to use the power bar squat, remember, always use a spotter. Lifting up, moving back, hands go wide, stabilizing, and exactly the same technique, stick my bottom out and my knees go down, stand up, and if you look at my hips, it will tilt backwards, I go down and it will tilt forward so my pelvis is in neutral position. What this does it switches on my lower back, so lower back strengthening and a safer movement.

Safely come forward, bend your knees, and down. Now, a few variations on how to do the squat. .
