Step 1: Establish interest

First, find out who else would be interested in your club. Gather a list of names and take it to the teacher to show them that the club would be worthwhile. They will then ask you to go and do some research.

Step 2: Do your research

The teacher will want to know the following:
– If your idea is a sports-related activity, are there any coaches in your local area?
- Does anyone else - like sports centres or youth clubs - already run a similar activity?
- When do you want to do it? Lunchtime or after school?
- What facilities do you need?

You might be able to get this information from friends or family, the internet, or a local sports development team.

Step 3: Set a date

If you have suggested a coach for the club who is not already working a the school, the teacher will check them out to make sure they are OK to come into the school.
If the teacher decides to go ahead, then you can set a date, time, and place for the activity. You'll then need to advertise your club to make sure that other children in the school can take part. You might consider using posters, the school email or intranet, assemblies or notices at registration time.

Step 4: Keep a register

Your teacher will ask you to keep a register of who attends the club. Hopefully, as long as people are attending and enjoying it, they will keep running it.
