How To Start A Twitter Account

Twitter is a social network that enables you to stay in touch with your friends and colleagues. Why it is called as tweet? And now, a tweet is a 140 characters update and it can be anything, you can talk about what you are doing or you can give people an update about your business or you can inform people about something that may be relevant to them. And now, I am going to show you how to join Twitter.

So, what you do is enter your full name, enter your email and enter your password and make sure this is a mixture of letters and numbers, and then click on the sign up button. Now, on the next screen, Twitter will suggest a username for you. Now, when you setup a Twitter username, it needs to be something that is memorable and that is relevant to your business.

So, for example, if you are an osteopath, so you are placed in Lincoln, you could create a username for yourself say Osteolincoln. Now, it is very important that your Twitter username is short because in Twitter, you only have 140 characters to write on tweets. And if somebody quotes you in that tweet, you have got very long username, that will have very little room to include what you written.

So once you found a suitable username, click on create my account. So, your account is now setup. But you are not quite there yet.

You need to go into your settings and create a bio for yourself, you also need to upload a photograph of yourself. So, to do that, go over here to where you see your username, click on that and you will see something called settings. On the settings screen, put in your email address.

Don't worry, this email address will be displayed on your account. Put in your time zone, and I generally recommend that you don't click on protect my tweets. If you want to have followers in Twitter, you need to make yourself easy to follow.

If you click on protect your tweets, people won't be able to follow you. And next thing that you should do is go back to settings and click on profile. Make sure you choose a picture of yourself.

I generally recommend that you use a picture that is close-up because in Twitter, profile image is very small. So if you have a distant head shot yourself, then you don't see anything. I recommend, actually, you get a professional in taking a photo of yourself.

That will make a big difference to you being noticed. Put in your websites address, put in your location and most importantly, put in your bio. So, you can say something about yourself, don't just say what you do, talk about how you actually help people.

So if you are an osteopath, you might say something like I help people to regain use of their health. The more you say about yourself, the more you are telling the users about your personality, the more attracted you look. And now, your Twitter account is setup, you are ready to interact with your friends and your business colleagues. .
