To strengthen our core, we need a good health instructor and a good Pilates technique to teach us the right way to do the exercises so we can tone ourselves in the right way.
In order to learn how to strengthen your core, it would be a good idea for you to look at "How to do Pilates for a beginner" and also "How to improve bad posture" and they will give you some really good tips to help you to get this good technique. So when I take my leg out to the side and finding my core, my tummy, my pelvic floor, I'm lengthening and then I keep using my pelvic floor as I lift up my leg and then I'm purely using these muscles. My core is giving me the strength to keep everything else still.
If I don't use my core, look what happens to my lower back and my pelvis. You'd have to do thousands of these in order to feel some toning happening here. But in the correct position, after about eight repetitions, you're going to start to feel some change.
Now as we take the leg forward, notice I keep my middle still but if I don't use my core, my back will collapse and the movement is very big then everything else is moving. So by using your core, using your tummy, your pelvic floor and lengthening, you can get a good thigh workout and isolate the muscles that you intend to work. That's how to strengthen your core.
