How To Stretch Jeans

You have to use a lot of strength to pull your jeans so that it can stretch so when you wear them you will feel more comfortable.

I've really been there working with Sonostag. Sonostag works for different denim jeans, pants around the world as consultants and has a store in London. We're going to show you how to look after your jeans and get the best from them.

I'm going to show you how to stretch jeans. One of the reasons why people want to stretch jeans is that they feel they're too tight for them. Another reason could be that they're perhaps too short on them because they put it through a wash and shrunk a little bit too much.

So basically, it's not thick if you've gone to a very old jeanery. There'll be a guy there, they'll have the wrong size for you perhaps, so you get the wrong size and he'll want to make sure that that'll fits. So what he'll want to do is that he'll undo the button on the waistband, make sure there's no breakage or any extra tensions on that.

And then he'll simply, with all his might, pull on the waistband. Now you got be careful. Don't actually hold on to the waistband, loops there or the belt-loops there because you'll simply tear them off.

And also if you are a little bit too strong with it, then you can weaken it, you can even undo some of the stitchings perhaps. So basically, you want put reasonable amount of effort there and pull that. Also be careful, just in case that waistband labels' actually stitch all sides, then you might weaken that may come, may weaken the stitching on it and so on.

But basically you simply keep tugging at it and that will give you a little bit of extra comfort, or half an inch or inch in hand. This is actually achieved organically, just by wearing the jeans, even if it's tight on you if put the jeans on, you wear them over a period of time, they grow on you. So basically the idea is that if you want to stretch your jeans, that will happen organically anyway by you wearing them.

But if you want a quick fix or want for whatever reason may be there's a photo shoot, maybe you want to feel comfortable immediately, you can stretch them. In fact, you can do that on all parts of the jeans not just the waistband. You can do that with any part of the jeans that you want.

Another trick is that if you want to stretch your jeans in the length then it's a slightly different technique in that. If you've lost length, you're not going to get it back, your body will push out on the width of the jeans to make you look loose a bit. It will not stretch it out for you because you're not putting any weight on the length of the jeans.

So what you do is if they've become too short for you, you simply rinse them in cold water, not hot water but in cold water, rinse them either in a bucket of cold water or in the bath of cold water for five minutes. When they're out, physically with your strength, pull out the jeans, so you're pulling the two lengths of jeans, the top of it and the bottom of it and swivel it round so you're attacking all ends of it. Keep doing it.

You don't need to put a lot of strength because you won't get the length back. You can normally achieve back to an inch on the length by doing that. So this is how you stretch your jeans. .
