How to style a mid-length haircut. Now, obviously, you can just style your hair exactly as your stylist has cut your hair. But sometimes, it's nice to reinvent a shape.
Again, look at the shape of your face and think, well, let's perhaps change the texture (which is the easiest way of doing it). The best thing when styling your hair is actually not to do it on freshly shampooed hair but to do it on hair that's a little bit dirty - perhaps second day hair. You can prep the hair by just running a little bit of hairspray all the way through and that just gives something to adhere to.
Then I'm going to use the curling iron just to kick off, so that I can actually change the texture of the hair. You can see I've put, first of all, a side parting in to work across to a longer side. And then, I can simply take sections out and prep them, just coming in, using the tongs, just to create perhaps a little bit of movement that wasn't in the hair before and let the hair start to have a little bit of texture that's different.
I'm going to work my way through and just prep a small part of the hair across the fringe and show you how this dramatically changes and gives interest to medium-length hair. We have a little bit of prepping very simply done with the iron and now, we can just dress the hair and literally just take the length of the hair and combing it back, being careful to leave the detailing in the hair, just brush this across the crown, giving it a little bit of height. And holding the hair quite loosely, just take the hair into a very, very simple ponytail and just twist the hair until it falls, until we've got a shape that just disappears into the back.
Tuck in the top of the ponytail into the hair, then just fold it back on itself and pin. You then have the foundation of the shape, where you've changed the hair quite dramatically from being a mid-length haircut into a little short style with texture. Use a little hairspray just to hold in place.
And so, two bobby pins and five minutes with the iron and you have a completely different mid-length hairstyle. That's one way to style medium-length hair. .
