How To Submit A Podcast To ITunes
This video shows the user how to submit a podcast feed to the iTunes podcast directory. Listen to your favorite podcasts in the morning, afternoon, or evening by learning how to install into your iTunes.

Step 1:

Open iTunes

In this tutorial, we're gonna show the user how to submit a podcast to the iTunes Podcast Directory. We're starting out with the iTunes software open on our screen, and if you don't have iTunes, you can get it at www.apple.com/itunes and it is a free download. So, once you have that on your computer, and you want to submit your podcast to the directory, the first thing you need to do is open iTunes.

Step 2:

Move To The Podcast Area

When iTunes opens, it is on the iTunes music store, so the next thing we need to do is move from the iTunes music store to the podcast area. So if I click on 'Podcast' in the source menu on the left, see? It should bring up the podcast that I'm currently subscribed to. If you watched the earlier tutorial, you saw that we subscribed to Awakened Voice's 'A billion voices' audio podcast, but we want to move on to submit a podcast.

Fid The Submit Option

What we need to do is go down to this area that says 'Podcast Directory' and click on that arrow, and that takes us to the podcast directory. And there's a whole lot of things going on here, and at one point we might give a tour of the iTunes podcast directory, but right now we want to submit.
The way to do that is just go to this big button that is dead-center on the page and click 'Submit a Podcast'.

Enter The Feed

Next thing you will need to do is you need to enter the feed of the podcast, and I'm going to enter the Feedburner feed that we set up in last week's tutorial.
So that would be feeds.feedburner.com/awakenedvoicetutorials
You want to make sure that you get that right because iTunes is then going to validate the RSS feed prior to including in the directory. So the next thing I need to do is click 'Continue'.

Logon To Your iTunes Account

Now, what happened here is, iTunes presented me with my log on and in order to submit a podcast to iTunes, you actually have to have a registered account with them, which I happen to under my 'Podcast NYC' address.
So I'm going to enter my password here. If you don't have an account, what you would need to do is click this 'Create Account' button and then you could continue the process from there.

Step 6:

Validate Your Feed

Once you submit your account information, iTunes should begin logging you in and validating the feed. And we see that, here, if iTunes picks up the feed correctly, you will see the artwork, you will see the name, the author, descriptions and some of the categories. All of this looks correct.
If you're submitting and this doesn't look correct, what you need to do is go back and edit the source of your feed and then submit once you've got all these different areas corrected in your RSS feed.

Submit The Podcast

So, we're going to click the 'Submit' button, and now that we've submitted it, we're going to get an e-mail sent to rob@awakenedvoice.com and that is the e-mail address that was actually included as the author e-mail address in the RSS feed.
It's likely that this won't be submitted to iTunes immediately, or you won't be able to see it immediately, but we will be kept abreast of the status via e-mail.
So then, once I click 'Done', it takes me back to the podcast directory.

So the next step is to check my e-mail and keep an eye on my e-mail, and iTunes will let us know via e-mail when the podcast is in the directory and ready to go. From then on, you can link to it and we will talk about finding your podcast in the directory and linking to it on a future tutorial.
