How To Take Care Of Hair Extensions

So you have hair extensions, but are unsure of how to care for them. Watch this video to learn a few simple tricks to care for your hair extensions.

Hi. Today, I would like to give you a few tips on how to take care of your hair extensions. The first and most important one is to wash them properly.

The best shampoo would be shampoo for normal hair or clarifying shampoo. I would say for normal hair, maybe every other week, and clarifying so you can alternate. The worst enemy for hair extensions is conditioner, if you apply it directly on the roots.

It makes the hair very slippery and the extensions can slide out. To avoid it, just make sure you put the conditioner on the ponytail all the way down to condition the ends. We don't need any conditioner by the root because our natural oils are taking care of the roots, keeping the roots moisturized.

So, condition just on the ends of the hair. Hair extensions need regular maintenance. If you decided to go for hair extensions, just bear in mind, every 3 months, you have to have them maintained.

If you would like to keep hair extensions, you can have them tightened every 3 months. If your hair is finer than normal hair, quite fragile thing or over bleached hair, make sure you do your maintenance more often, maybe every 2 months or 2 ½ months. When hair extensions start to grow out, I would say on the second month, just make sure you keep separating them like that.

What happens is if you naturally lose some hair every day when your hair sheds and these hairs stay in the bonds, they have nowhere to go. So, all these little hairs, they start twisting a little bit in between each other. So, you have to just gently separate them so they stay nice and neat like that.

You wouldn't pull anything out so don't worry. The best brush to use is a brush for hair extensions, is a soft bristled brush. You can get it anywhere.

It's just basically a brush with bristles; don't have any bubbles on top. So, they're just very, very simple. And when you brush your hair extensions, you brush not getting stuck in the attachments.

So, it just goes nice and smooth all the way down. Make sure you brush your hair with this brush from the roots. If your hair is wet or slightly tangled, just start brushing from the ends of your hair going gently towards the top.

Just make sure you do brush the extensions on top as well. Be gentle generally with your hair. Don't pull it.

Don't sort of tug it. If it gets a little bit tangled, just be gentle with it and be patient and your hair extensions will last for a long time. The most common question is how to sleep with hair extensions and the best way I would recommend is just tying it in a loose ponytail or a plait when you go to bed.

This will keep your hair from tangling and it's very nice and easy in the morning to just un-plait it, for example, and style it as you would normally style it. It's relatively easy to look after hair extensions and if you stick to these simple rules, your hair will be looking beautifully the whole 3 months. And that's how to take care of your hair extensions. .
