Hi, and welcome to the Braiding Art Academy. My name is Lauralyn. We're going to be demonstrating some techniques on different hairstyles today on Afro hair and European hair.

Okay, I'm actually pulling the dreadlock first with a latch hook method. All I'm using is a latch hook crochet needle. We're taking a section of hair and after rolling it in your fingers at the end, we're going into the root one way and latch hooking it.

I'm going to show you now how to take out a lock. I've got two locks here that I just put in earlier with the crochet tool that you can use to interlock it. I'm now going to take them out.

Now, when you're taking out a lock, you always start from the very end as you would do if you were curling out a knot. Just brush your way up. Basically, you're taking out the lock in the order in which you put the lock in.

Okay, so we're taking out another lock now for you, starting from the end just clear it up, no need to put any force on it at all. All the way up to the top and that is a permanent lock that I've just combed out. If I'd have left that, that would have continued to stay as it was and it would have continued to lock.

So that's how you take out a dreadlock. .
