How To Take Out Micro Braids

In this VideoJug film, you will learn how to properly and safely take out micro braids through a demonstration and many helpful tips!

My, name is Lauralyn from the Braiding Lounge Academy, and I'm about to show you how to take out micro braids safely. In order to take out micro braids safely, it's very important that you take them out the same way they went in. You take the hair and you hold it so that it's slack to the base of the scalp so that you're not pulling the client's scalp.

You start at the end of the hair with a fine tooth comb and start to just comb it through. I'm doing each braid in the same order in which it went in. Okay, now this does take some time but it is the safest way to take out a braid.

And another reason I'm doing it like this is because of the health of the client's hair. You don't want to cut the client's hair. If the client's hair is shorter than the actual extension length you've put in, then you can cut it to the length of the client's hair and carry on with the same method all the way to the end.

I'm going to show you another example. Okay, you start with the end of the braid and you always hold it so that the braid is slack and it's not pulling from the scalp of the hair. You can simply go through as you would do to a normal knot.

You take it out from the end, each and every single plait. There is no need to rush. And if you do it this way, you'll get less breakage.

You won't lose any of the client's hair and there won't be any confusion. Just carry on and take it out all the way up to the root. As you can see, it just pulls out.

There's another piece of hair out, and you've lost none of the client's hair. And that's how you safely take micro braids back out of a client's hair. .
