Hi. My name is Stan Rowlinson. I'm a dog behaviourist and obedience trainer.

This is my dog Charlie, one of my rescued dogs about 7 years old. Today, I'm going to show you how to get your dog to do rolls and flip overs, and Charlie is going to help you with this. Come on in Charlie! He's a good dog! Yes, he is! Over.

Over. Yes! Over. And dead.

Good. So I've got to get Charlie to turn over. Let me show you.

Charlie likes this kind. Most dogs love this type of training. They know they are going to get a reward at the end of it and when they get there, it's like a big round of applause.

By the way, dogs love applause so if you can applaud them, do it. Watch their tail. Let's have a look.

(Clapping) Look at his tail. It's from the applause. Dogs absolutely adore it.

So what I need to do with Charlie is teach him to turn over with a treat. Like that! And like that. Over.

Over. Over. Yes! Good.

Take it! As soon as I get somewhere near what I want. sit, down, here, over. Yes! And over. Good! Take it! And I gratingly lure him and lure him over, until I get to the point where I just give a verbal cue.

And with this verbal cue, I'm going to go (whistle) here, sit. He's playing dead. He's doing all his little tricks for us here, but I'm going to see I can get him to get up.

(Kiss sound) Come on then. Come on, Charlie. Sit.

Bang! Bang. Good! Take it. So I'm giving him a word cue.

The word bang as if I've shot him. Bang! Bang! Yes! Bang. Bang.

Good. Take it. I'm going to see if I can do it from a distance.

Charlie. Sit. Bang.

Bang. Yes! Good! Charlie is a little bit chubby. That's because he keeps pinching the cat's food and we have a lot of dogs coming into our house and he pinches their food as well.

Charlie, one more time! Bang. Bang. Yes! Good! Good dog.

Sit. Good. Down.

Good dog.
