Hi, I am Matt Kemp from the Underground Cookery School. I am going to show you how to make a series of sauces. Hope you enjoy it.
Well,I am going to show you how to thicken a spaghetti sauce. Now,I made this spaghetti sauce earlier on by frying off some onion and garlic in the pan. I added a bit of red wine and then, I added some tinned tomatoes which I mixed up.
That is the consistency that I have got, and if you want to see me do that, just go on to VideoJug and look up how to make spaghetti sauce. What we are going to do now, is over the course of the next few minutes, is just cook that sauce down. And all we are doing is adding a naked flame to get as much of that moisture out, which in turn will intensify the flavor and thicken the texture of the sauce.
So, I am just going to keep stirring this for about two or three minutes till we should have a, goes without saying, but obviously cooking time is varied according to the size of the sauce. So if you had a big industrial pan of sauce on the go, it would obviously take considerably longer. Cooking is all about textures and consistencies rather than looking at the clock.
And this small version is really just to give you an example. Well that's now cooked down beautifully, it has been on the hot for few minutes. And that sauce is now beautifully thickened and perfect for serving.
And that is how to thicken spaghetti sauce.
