How To Throw A Baby Shower
These days, a lot of expectant moms end up throwing their own baby showers - with a little help from friends and family. Planning a baby shower has to be squeezed in between career and home-making... so simple is the way to go!
-
Step 1:
-
The Location
-
You need room for your guests to sit and relax, so if you don't have a large living room, ask someone if you can borrow theirs.
-
Step 2:
-
The Guest List
-
Don't spend a lot of money on fancy invitations. You'll need the money for the shower game prizes. And it's not a bachelorette party, so invite the guys. You'll get more gifts.
-
Step 3:
-
The Spread
-
Do finger foods and make sure you have enough to satisfy. When it comes to alcohol, beer and wine are fine. Just because mom-to-be shouldn't drink doesn't mean no one can.
Don't spend money on fluffy pink and blue décor. The baby doesn't even know there's party. Decorate for all the adults who brought you the lovely, expensive gifts with a few flower arrangements and a nice-looking buffet.
-
Step 4:
-
The Prizes
-
After the food budget, spend most of your budget on good prizes. Why? Baby shower games are what people like and dread the most about baby showers. Skip the baby-themed gifts. Pick prizes people really want.
-
Step 5:
-
The Games
-
The Diaper Pin.
As each guest arrives, pin on a diaper pin. If someone says the word “baby”, the person who hears this gets the pin. At the end of the shower, the person with the most pins wins.
Guess The Size.
Everyone cuts a stretch of ribbon they think will go around mom's belly. The one who comes closest wins.
Guess The Goo.
Baby food jars with hidden labels. Each guest must taste and then list their answers. The one who guesses the most correctly wins.
Guess The Number.
Place cotton swabs into a jar. Each guest guesses how many are in there. Whoever comes closest wins.
Now do you see why the prizes are so important?
