A properly tied bow is one of the most beautiful decorations you can add to any gift. You can learn how to tie a bow from a master florist and impress all your friends.
How to make a bow? Use a length of ribbon. Cut the end at a slant - this helps the bow or the ribbon, not to fray. Decide how you want the tail.
Squeeze your thumb and forefinger together, with the ribbon in between. If you're left-handed, use your right hand, and if you're right-handed, vice versa. Quickly, squeeze it together and pull it together with the same size on the other side and you just keep adding.
Squeeze the ribbon together between your thumb and your finger again and just keep adding. Another one, as long as the ones next to each other are the same size, they don't have to be the same size as the ones the next row down. You can make as many rows as you like.
Three is about right - three on each side. Here we go again and then cut your length about the same size as the other side. You can generally tell the difference between a florist's bow and a dressmaker's bow.
A florist tends to cut in a straight line and a dress maker tends to - I don't know, that's what we do. And then you can tie with another piece. Just fold that in half, tie it down there.
You need your teeth to make it secure - it's like your third hand. I'm just going to trim the other side now. They don't have to be exactly the same length, but this one, I'd like it to be.
And that's how you make a bow. .
